Wharf Reconstruction - Little Grindstone, MB Project - Winter/ Spring 2020 – Public Comments Invited

October 11, 2019 – Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Small Craft Harbours Branch, must determine whether the proposed Wharf Reconstruction - Little Grindstone, MB - Winter/Spring 2020 project located in Hecla-Grindstone Provincial Park is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Fisheries and Oceans Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

Little Grindstone Harbour, Manitoba is located on the west shore of Lake Winnipeg in Hecla-Grindstone Provincial Park, and is approximately 48 km north of Riverton, MB. The harbour is an active commercial fishing facility under the administration of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) Small Craft Harbours Branch (SCH).

Small Craft Harbours Branch, (SCH) is proposing to undertake the reconstruction of the marginal wharf at Little Grindstone Harbour.  The scope of work includes the demolition of the existing 72m long timber pile marginal wharf, and the construction of a new 72m long steel sheet pile marginal wharf with granular surfacing. The project also includes new timber wheel-guards and electrical pedestals.
