Public Notice
Milton Logistics Hub Project — Public Comments Invited

What is happening?

July 2, 2020 — The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (the Agency) is holding a public comment period as part of the environmental assessment process for the proposed Milton Logistics Hub Project, located in Milton, Ontario.

The Agency is now inviting the public and Indigenous groups to comment on the potential environmental assessment conditions for the project. These potential conditions would become legally binding on the proponent if the Minister of Environment and Climate Change ultimately issues a decision statement indicating the project may proceed.

The Agency recognizes that it is more challenging to undertake meaningful public engagement and Indigenous consultation in light of the circumstances arising from COVID-19. The Agency continues to assess the situation with key stakeholders, make adjustments to consultation activities, and is providing flexibility as needed in order to prioritize the health and safety of all Canadians, while maintaining its duty to conduct meaningful engagement with interested groups.

Furthermore, due to these circumstances, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change has extended the time limit for the issuance of the decision statement for the Milton Logistics Hub Project on April 3, 2020 by 90 days to increase the time the public and Indigenous groups have to be consulted on the potential conditions.

How can I participate?

Comments can be submitted online by visiting the project home page on the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry (reference number 80100). Comments received will be published online as part of the project file. Information on alternative means of submitting comments is also available on the Registry.

Written comments in either official language will be accepted until August 21, 2020.

What is the proposed project?

The Canadian National Railway Company is proposing the construction and operation of a logistics hub, designed to transfer containers between trucks and railcars.
