Oct 8, 2020 - Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Kahkewistahaw Landing Infrastructure Construction is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:
impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples;
Indigenous knowledge;
community knowledge; and
technically and economically feasible mitigation measures
Note that no comments were received during the public commenting period.
Implementation of mitigation measures is required for the project to address potential environmental effects related to:
Surface and Groundwater
The Land
Air and Noise
Socio-Economic, Culture and Heritage
Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. If applicable, environmental effects that are within provincial jurisdiction would be addressed through provincial regulations.
Therefore, Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
