Notice of determination for GL7 Phase 1 Transmission Rebuild Project (L007) / Saulteaux and Moosomin First Nations

August 29, 2022 - Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed GL7 Phase 1 Transmission Rebuild Project (L007) / Saulteaux and Moosomin First Nations is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

-SaskPower is working with Saulteaux and Moosomin First Nations for this project
-the rebuild of transmission line is required to improve safety and reliability of power supply in the area
-no comments were received during the public commenting period

Implementation of mitigation measures is required for the project to address potential environmental effects related to:

-SaskPower Corporation has an Environmental Best Practices Manual that outlines best practices and environmental management practices to mitigate any adverse environmental effects
-the work is planned outside the nesting period

Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. If applicable, environmental effects that are within provincial jurisdiction would be addressed through provincial regulations. Therefore, Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
