December 18 2022 – Global Affairs Canada must determine whether the proposed project Development of market gardening perimeters, located in the department of Bounkiling in the region of Sedhiou in Senegal, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Global Affairs Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. . All comments received will be considered public. The Proposed Project

Project Title: Women, Agriculture and Resilience (FAR)

Summary of the Project: The Women, Agriculture and Resilience (FAR) project is funded by the Government of Canada through Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and implemented by the Centre for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI) and the "Société de coopération pour le développement international" (SOCODEVI). It aims to promote the socio-economic empowerment of women and young producers in irrigated rice, banana and market gardening. The development work involves the installation of a California-type irrigation system in 4 communes to reduce water loss and improve irrigation efficiency.

 

Partner: Centre for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI) and the Société de coopération pour le développement international (SOCODEVI).
