The Proposed Project

Cold Lake First Nation proposes to construct and operate Phase II and Phase III of its water distribution system on its lands at Cold Lake IR No. 149B. Phase II and III will consist of approximately 16 km water distribution main with service to approximately 50 homes. The water system will extend from existing service provided by the City of Cold Lake with line diameter ranging from 250 mm at the connection point to 100 mm at the branch extensions. The watermain network will cross several waterbodies including streams, lakes, and wetlands using horizontal directional drilling methods. Lines will be installed adjacent to existing roads where possible, with segments crossing through undeveloped forested areas of reserve. Vegetation clearing will be completed as necessary to support construction activities, access, and infrastructure components.
