Notice of Determination

Québec – November 15, 2023 Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed project of "development of a tourist and commercial rest area in Kataskomiq" is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

This determination was based on the following factor :

  • Feasible mitigation measures for construction-related impacts.

Main mitigation measures considered for this determination are as follows:

  • Promote the "avoid, minimize, compensate" sequence for wetlands in the study area; such as: avoiding wetlands as part of the development project and, where applicable, keeping the original soil in place as much as possible, among others.
  • If construction impacts wetlands, take soil type into consideration when choosing construction options.
  • Residual materials management
  • Oil spill kit

Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

Therefore, Indigenous Services Canada may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
