Grandmothers Bay Lagoon and Sewage Pumping Station Upgrades - Public Comments invited

March 25, 2024 - Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Grandmothers Bay Lagoon and Sewage Pumping Station Upgrades, to be located on Grandmothers Bay 219, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

Proposed Project

The Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) is proposing to construct a new facultative lagoon, to complete upgrades at the existing Sewage Pumping Stations (SPS) No. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, and the construction of a new SPS No 7. The Grandmother's Bay Lagoon and SPS Upgrade project will include a new sewage force main from SPS No. 7 to the new lagoon, a new sewage force main from SPS No. 6 to SPS No. 7, the decommissioning of the existing lagoon, and an upgrade to sewage pumping stations (SPS) No. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

 

The proposed lagoon will be will be a four-cell facultative lagoon located within NW 36-76-18 W2M, approx. 1,300 m northeast of the existing lagoon. The new SPS No. 7 will be located near the existing lagoon.  There will be 2,200 m or new sewage force main, from SPS No. 7 to the new lagoon and 1,000 m of sewage force main, from SPS No. 6 to SPS No. 7.
