Gakijiwanong Anishnaabe - Water Treatment Plant Upgrades
March 5, 2025 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the Water Treatment Plant Upgrades project at Gakijiwanong Anishnaabe First Nation is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project
Gakijiwanong Anishinaabe Nation (GAN) Water Treatment Plant Upgrades project includes the construction of a new water treatment plant, upgrades to raw water intake pipe and intake structure, low lifting pump station, watermain and sewer collection system, roadway and electrification infrastructure, installation of a new below grade water reservoir (531 m3), and decommissioning of the existing water treatment plant. The total footprint of the new water treatment plant is approxiamtely 840 m2 and is located near the existing water treatment plant (north site of Sandy Beach Road).
