Fortis Alberta Solar Project and Battery Storage

Fortis Alberta is proposing to construct a Battery Energy Storage and Solar Project in Waterton Lakes National Park. The Project will provide power storage capacity in the event of a line outage and will supply the Waterton Townsite with back-up power for approximately four hours under peak load conditions. The project involves installation of a pre-fabricated Battery Energy Storage System and photovoltaic solar panels at locations still to be assessed and confirmed. Fortis Alberta will be undertaking a Basic Impact Assessment to describe potential project-related impacts to natural and cultural resources from this Project.
