Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area Discovery Centre

This project will involve construction of the Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area Discovery Centre in Nipigon, ON. The project site is a 1.4-hectare lot at the Nipigon waterfront on the west side of Brennan Drive. The project will include construction of the Discovery Centre, detached garage, parking area, outdoor interpretive elements, and landscaping. The Discovery Centre (approximately 1,300 square meters) will be a single-story, multiuse building that will include exhibit space, interpretive elements (interior and exterior), and administrative space. It will serve as the main hub for visitors to Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area and for site administration and operations. The construction phase of the project will involve use of heavy machinery, excavation, backfilling, landscaping, and some vegetation removal. This project will be assessed with a basic impact assessment.
