Project Summary:
Funded by the Canadian Government through Global Affairs Canada (GAC) under the Comprehensive Humanitarian Multi-Sectoral Response for Conflict, Disaster and at-Risk Communities in Ethiopia, Lebanon, Syria, Ukraine and Yemen (2024-2026) initiative, and implemented by International Medical Corps (IMC), this project aims to improve healthcare services in Yemen's Lahj Governorate. The project will rehabilitate five Primary Health Centers (PHCs) and one Maternal and Child Health (MNCH) hospital.Key activities include constructing one medical waste zones with incinerators, performing minor rehabilitations of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) infrastructure in a healthcare facility, and implementing infection prevention and control (IPC) measures in six healthcare facilities. These interventions are designed to improve accessibility for people with disabilities, the elderly, and pregnant and lactating women, while also reducing the risk of infections for patients and healthcare workers. The medical waste zones and rehabilitated WASH infrastructure will be situated within the premises of each targeted health facility. IMC will work closely with the Ministry of Health and the General Health Office (GHO) to secure necessary permits and approvals.
