Misuse of precious resources

We can see the devastation these data centres cause in the US. Fresh water is depleted and turned toxic. Alberta is in severe drought conditions already, with water shortages common in the summer and reservoirs lower than average. Albertans water cannot be used for these AI data centres when people need these resources.

The energy used by these centres, natural gas and coal, will cause further environmental damage, creating a feedback loop further reducing precipitation and water available. In addition to this, Albertans are already struggling with cost of living increases, and these data centres have been shown to increase citizens utility costs as they foot the bill.

I don't see any benefit to allowing these companies to take our water, our air, and our money to power their AI data centres. The cost is simply too high
