Renovation of the Elias-Gavey house and related improvements

- Buildings The project involves renovating the Elias-Gavey house (Grande-Grave sector) as part of a larger project aimed at providing visitor accommodation in heritage houses in the sector. The project's mission therefore includes the conservation of built heritage with a strong focus on the visitor experience. This heritage house has been formally recognized by the BEEFP since 2001. The scope of work includes, but is not limited to (see plans and specifications 75% of BALSA and subcontractors for details in Appendix 1): - Renovation of the Elias-Gavey house in keeping with the original character of the house. The work includes replacing the foundations and roof covering, as well as restoring the building's envelope components (siding, doors, windows, and dormer). - All finishing and interior work to make the house habitable. All work must be carried out in accordance with the standards of the National Building Code of Canada 2015 (NBC 2015). - Construction of a storage area and temporary site facilities. The Elias Gavey shed will have to be dismantled and transported to the operational center. The Elias-Gavey outhouse will be moved to the operational center for the duration of the work, with the aim of returning it to the site after the work is completed. -Wastewater management A wastewater treatment system will need to be installed and connected to the house so that it can be put into service immediately after the water supply system has been installed. -Electrical connection The electrical connection to the house will be identical to the existing one, except that the section between the last pole of the HQ network (located northeast of the house) and the house itself will have to be underground. -Land development The current access road and parking lot will be used intensively throughout the duration of the work. However, for the purposes of the accommodation project, there are plans to expand the parking lot from 2 to 4 spaces. In addition, the work planned to ensure drainage of the land (trenching and installation of a drain) will have to be carried out south of the house, towards the end of the project.
