Fuel tank removal at the NRC Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory

The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) is proposing to remove a decommissioned historic above ground fuel tank at the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory, located approximately 20 km south of Penticton, British Columbia.

The project will include site preparation, fuel tank removal, excavation, and site restoration. Prior to removal, the tank will be fully enclosed, stripped of lead-based paint to bare metal, dismantled, and transported off-site for recycling as scrap metal. The historic tank is not connected to infrastructure and will not be replaced.
