New Hotel Development at Edmonton International Airport

The Proposed Project

 

K5 Dual 1 Ltd. is proposing the development of a new dual-branded hotel, bringing job creation opportunities to drive the region's economic growth.  The development is proposed for an undeveloped area east of YEG. When complete, the hotel will have 168 total guest suites consisting of 56 standard king rooms, 44 standard double queen rooms, and 68 extended-stay suites. Accessible suites, and pet-friendly rooms are included in the proposed plan. Amenities will include over 2,000 square feet of meeting space, fitness centre, outdoor terrace, pool, hot tub and restaurant.

Latest update

Edmonton Regional Airport Authority has determined that the proposed new hotel development project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

  • impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples;
  • Indigenous knowledge;
  • community knowledge;
  • comments received from the public; and
  • technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.

Edmonton Regional Airport Authority is satisfied that that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Therefore, Edmonton Regional Airport Authority may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part..
