Development of a tourist and commercial rest area in Kataskomiq

The Wolastoqiyik Wahsipekuk First Nation wishes to develop a cultural and commercial rest area on the Kataskomiq reserve, located 30 km southeast of Rivière-du Loup, on Route 185.

Covering an area of approximately 2 hectares, the project includes a truck stop, a convenience store with gas station, boutique and food counters selling aboriginal and regional products, a restaurant and tourist information area, indoor and outdoor relaxation areas and service points for Petit Témis cyclists and snowmobilers.

Leasing for service and light-industry companies wishing to set up there, as well as accommodation and recreational tourism areas, are envisaged in later phases. The planned surface area for these activities is about 8.5 hectares.
