Deer Exclusion Fencing

In an effort to manage the impacts of deer browse in sensitive areas of RNUP and to study differences in browse levels when deer are excluded from these areas, approximately 600 metres of deer exclusion fencing will be installed in a forested plot in RNUP. The fencing will be installed about 25 meters off of a main road and continue about 145 meters into the interior of the forest. A City of Toronto Road Closure Permit will be required for the duration of this project. The area surrounding the site is a densely forested area with a healthy understory. There are few social trails through the area that should be used as access routes where possible to minimize disturbance.
