Expansion of Storage Courtyard - Warner Building

This project will remove the soil berm behind the building to create a flat, level surface that matches the surrounding ground. Once the area is graded, it will be paved with asphalt to provide additional outdoor storage space. The current paved area is about 6,396 m², and the expansion will add another 1,282 m², for a total improved area of 7,679 m².

Some trees within the work area will need to be removed. Because tree clearing is planned for summer or fall, a qualified professional will complete a nesting bird survey before any vegetation is taken down. This is required to protect migratory birds under federal and provincial regulations. No tree replanting is currently included in the project, but this may be discussed with stakeholders as the project advances.

The project will use the site's existing drainage system. A stormwater review has already been completed, and the City of Ottawa has confirmed that the current drainage conditions can support the proposed expansion.
