Beach Point Processing Company Shoreline Stabilization Repairs

The proposed project is to implement shoreline protection repairs and improvements surrounding the Beach Point processing plant located adjacent to Beach Point Small Craft Harbour in Murray River, P.E.I. Presently, there is existing shoreline protection. However, in September 2022, Hurricane Fiona damaged the existing shoreline protection resulting in significant erosion adjacent to the processing plant.

The existing revetment material will be removed and replaced with filter fabric, 1.8m thick 1 to 3 ton armourstone overlaying 0.8m thick 200kg filter stone. A 1.5H:1V slope is proposed to reduce material volumes and seabed footprint. The top of the revetment will include a 2.7m wide crest. Five outfall pipes will be extended from the plant and storm water system beyond the newly placed shoreline protection. The project will disturb an area of approximately 1532m2 of which 179m2 is located on DFO-SCH's water lot.
