Bigstone Cree Nation: P057828 - Maskotehk Flood Mitigation Upgrades at Cattleman Drive & Cee Too Drive

Bigstone Cree Nation proposes the replacement of a watercourse crossing over an unnamed creek in Wabasca IR No. 166D to increase capacity and amelierate flooding issues. Construction will include isolation of the crossing location, installation of a temporary bypass crossing, removal of the existing corssing, installation of a new crossing, removal of the temporary bypass route, and commissioning of the new watercourse crossing.

May 29, 2026 - Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Maskotehk Flood Mitigation Upgrades at Cattleman Drive & Cee Too Drive project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:
• impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples;
• Indigenous knowledge;
• community knowledge;
• comments received from the public; and
• technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.

Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Therefore, Bigstone Cree Nation may carry out the project in whole or in part.
